Welcome, Andy Wright!

Andy Wright

Dunston UTS FC are delighted to announce the arrival of Andy Wright to the club's Management Team.

Andy Wright will be joining the Management Team ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, and will be working alongside newly-appointed Manager Jon McDonald, as well as current coaches Mark Scott and Lee Kennedy, and Club Physio Lewis Black.

Wright previously played for Leeds United as a youth player and at professional level. Despite making no appearances as a pro at Leeds, Wright did achieve success in the Youth Team winning the 1997 FA Youth Cup. He also had spells playing at Reading FC and at Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie as well as playing for various non-league teams.

In his coaching career, Wright is a UEFA A-License Coach and was a Lead Phase Coach at Leeds United for six years. Upon joining Dunston UTS, Wright has expressed his reasons for wanting to be a part of the club.

"Dunston is stacked in history and tradition, and it is one of the most successful non-league clubs in the North East. The aims for this season have to be promotion.

"I'm very grateful to be working alongside Jon McDonald and the rest of the Management Team and I am really looking forward to an exciting season ahead!"

The appointment of Andy Wright will bolster what is already a strong management team, and current Manager Jon McDonald can't wait to be working alongside Wright.

"Andy and I have been close friends for many years. He's got a good pedigree, both in terms of his playing career and now as a talented coach. I'm delighted that he has agreed to join Dunston, working alongside Mark [Scott], Lee [Kennedy], Lewis [Black] and me." McDonald said.

"I believe this gives us a really strong management team at the club, and we all can't wait to get going."
