Welcome, Aaron Steavens!

Dunston UTS FC are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper, Aaron Steavens.

Eagle-eyed supporters will have noticed that Steavens was named on the bench for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Stockton Town. The former North Shields shot-stopper joins the squad adding extra competition to the club's goalkeeping department.

"I'm excited to be here! Due to the injury of Dan Staples, the club was interested in signing me. The lads I played with at North Shields were highly recommending me to come as it's a brilliant set-up." Steavens said.

Despite still being very young, Steavens has picked up a wealth of experience so far over the course of his career, appearing for multiple clubs across the region.

"I've played semi-professional football since the age of 16-years-old. I started off at Chester le Street Town in the Northern League Division Two and then progressed on to sign for South Shields at the same age. I stayed there for three or four years.

"For a young goalkeeper, I've got plenty of experience playing for many different clubs. I've been at Seaham Red Star, Guisborough Town, West Auckland Town, Whickham and North Shields which is where I was last season." Steavens added.

Steavens has also discussed his time at North Shields last season, where he was brought in towards the end of the campaign.

"It was brilliant! I arrived at North Shields when the club was near the bottom of the league and we went on a great winning run which saw me keep seven clean sheets in 16 games."

With competition for places among the starting XI at the UTS Stadium very high all over the pitch, our new goalkeeper has set his sights on what he wants to achieve.

"When I get the opportunity, I want to keep that number 1 shirt. I also want to help the team reach as high as possible." Steavens said.

Welcome to the club, Aaron!
