TRANSFER NEWS | Welcome, Luke Carr

Luke Carr

Dunston UTS FC are thrilled to announce the signing of midfielder, Luke Carr.

Carr arrives at the club after spending last season at Northern Alliance champions, Newcastle Blue Star. The 29-year-old has a glowing CV and has enjoyed highly successful periods at the likes of Morpeth Town and Consett in recent years.

"I'm very excited to be here. I was close to joining last season, but I opted against it." Carr said.

"At the end of last season, I spoke to Dale [Pearson], and he told me how much he enjoyed it here. Jon [McDonald] got in touch with me again and it's just went from there."

Carr is no stranger to the big occasion having played in two FA Vase Finals at Wembley Stadium, as well as achieving multiple promotions at various clubs.

"Last season at Blue Star was great, it was nice to be enjoying my football again. Before I was at Blue Star, I was at Consett for three seasons where we won promotion from the Northern League and reached the FA Vase Final."

"Before Consett, I was at Morpeth where again we got promoted out of the Northern League and we also won the FA Vase." Carr added.

So what can Dunston supporters expect from our first signing ahead of the 2023-24 season?

"I'm a number 10 who enjoys getting on the ball and making things happen. My personal goal for the season is double figures for goals and assists. For the team, we have to be looking at promotion."

Luke Carr becomes the first summer signing announcement through the door at the UTS Stadium this season, bolstering Jon McDonald's options in midfield, and our new manager has added some comments on Luke's arrival and his ability.

"Luke is a real technical player, he scores and creates goals. We are delighted to get him and he adds real quality to an already strong squad." McDonald has said.
