PREVIEW | Stocksbridge Park Steels (A)

Dunston make the trip to South Yorkshire ahead of a pivotal clash in the play-off race as we visit Stockbridge Park Steels.

After going two weeks without playing due to back-to-back postponed games, Chris Swailes' side will be looking to gain some momentum heading into the final stretch of the 2022/23 campaign.

FORM

Prior to the back-to-back postponements, Dunston's form has been very up and down with two wins, two draws and two defeats in our last six league outings. It was late heartbreak last time out for Dunston after a 90th minute goal from North Shields left back Chris McDonald cancelled out Sado Djalo's stunning first half goal.

On the back of the latest results, we currently find ourselves in 6th position in the Northern Premier League East table on 47 points. Ahead of us in fourth position is Long Eaton United who have found some excellent form and currently sit 6 points ahead of Dunston albeit, playing two games more.

In fifth position, currently occupying the final play-off spot, is Tuesday's hosts, Stocksbridge Park Steels. The South Yorkshire outfit are three points ahead of us after playing one more game, making this upcoming clash a vitally important one. Stocksbridge currently find themselves in 17th in the form table with their most recent result being a nil-nil draw with fellow play-off chasers Grimsby Borough on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT

You'll have to cast your mind all the way back to the opening day of the season on August 13th for the last time we met Stocksbridge. On that day, Dunston fell to a 3-2 defeat, with goals from Richard Coulson and Michael Fowler not being enough on that day.

Remarkably, the return fixture has taken quite some time to be played. The game was originally pencilled in to be played on December 17th but was postponed due to heavy snowfall. The game was then postponed again on January 24th due to a frozen pitch. The game was then rescheduled for a Tuesday night in February before being moved to a free Saturday on March 11th. That match was also postponed due to heavy snowfall.

It looks like Tuesday March 21st will finally be the day we get to visit our friends at Stocksbridge. Let's hope that's not been jinxed!
