CLUB NEWS: Media Team Personnel Changes

Club news

Dan Whalen has stepped down from his role on the clubs media team, to focus his time solely on the clubs commercial and development growth opportunities within the local area and beyond. All at Dunston UTS FC would like to take the time to thank Dan for all of his hard work within the clubs media team, where he has continuously produced tremendous work over the last three seasons, all of which was done in his spare time and alongside another role on the clubs development committee. With Dan's departure, Callum Pattison will be joining the media team for the upcoming 2022/23 season, to help the media team continue to drive the club forward. Everyone at Dunston UTS FC would like to extend a warm welcome to Callum, and we look forward to having him down at the UTS Stadium next season.

There has been a behind the scenes change at Dunston UTS FC ahead of the 2022/23 Northern Premier League East Division season. Dan Whalen, who has been an ever present member of the clubs media team over the last 3 season, has decided to step down from his role to focus his time solely on the clubs commercial and development outreach within the local community and beyond. Dan has produced tremendous work whilst on the media team, and all at Dunston UTS FC would like to take the time to thank Dan for his commitment and effort to the role. Dan explained his decision to step down:

"Having discussed plans with Tony Cleugh for the up-coming season, I felt that after 3 seasons in the role as part of the clubs media team, fresh ideas were required to further the media side of the club. Tony Cleugh, Billy Irwin and myself have often had to divide our time, all of which is on a voluntary basis, between media team duties, whilst also working together on the commercial and development side. So to that end, it made sense to concentrate solely on the latter in order to further develop the club off the pitch.

Tony Cleugh and Billy Irwin somehow have managed to keep me sane over the 3 years I’ve had the pleasure of working with them both, and we’re already looking at Commercial plans for the 2022/23 season. I’d like to thank all of the players, management and committee, all of whom have been extremely receptive to everything we’ve asked from them over the time I’ve been involved. Finally, and by no mean least, I’d like to thank the clubs supporters, who’ve taken the time to read, comment, share or pass constructive criticism on the content we’ve put out, or even just to ask me what the hell I’m on about when I’ve gone completely off tangent during a match report. Like all supporters, I can’t wait for this season to get started and I’m excited by the challenges ahead as we look to further push the club forward."

With the news of Dan stepping down from the Media Team, Callum Pattison has joined the clubs media team to carry on Dan's fine work and continue to drive the club forward off the pitch. Callum, who has experience with West Allotment Celtic as the clubs media officer last season, has already started contributing to the clubs media output and gave a few words to kick off his time at Dunston:

"Firstly, I am delighted to join this great club. The people involved in my transition have been nothing but welcoming and I cannot wait to officially get going! I bring some experience from West Allotment Celtic FC, where I posted regular content on the clubs social channels, developing my skills in the process. I would like to thank West Allotment Celtic and all of the people involved with the club for providing me with that opportunity. It is a great club run by great people, and I wish them nothing but the best for the future. Moving forward, I look forward to working with Dom, Tony, Kelvin and Ken to continue to put out some great media content out this season and going forward!"
