PREVIEW | Pontefract Collieries (A)

Dunston travel to West Yorkshire on Saturday take on the in-form Pontefract Collieries.

Despite the excellent form of Saturday's hosts, Dunston will make the trip full of confidence after recording back-to-back wins in the league. Dunston won 2-0 away at Brighouse on Monday night last week in a very professional performance which saw Jack Maskell score two goals.

On Saturday last week, a 96th minute winner from Luke Carr saw Dunston defeat Liversedge 1-0. A game where perhaps the scoreline wasn't a true reflection of the game after Liversedge's young goalkeeper, Rogan Ravenhill, produced multiple outstanding saves.

THE OPPONENTS

Pontefract currently sit 3rd in the league table after picking up 16 points from their opening eight games. Dunston are in 5th, with the same points total however, they are four goals worse off in the goal difference department.

In the form table, The Colls are currently top, picking up five wins and one draw in their last six league games. That draw came last weekend as Pontefract drew 2-2 away at Grantham. A 90th minute equaliser from Grantham's Tom Zerboni denying The Colls a sixth straight league win.

LAST TIME OUT

Arguably one of our more frustrating games last season came in our last meeting with Pontefract when we made the trip on a Tuesday night in February earlier this year.

The hosts won the game 2-1 with goals from Adam Priestley and Cody Cromack in either half. Dunston scored a late consolation from the penalty spot through second half substitute, Michael Fowler.

In the meeting before that, Dunston and Pontefract played out a 3-3 draw at The UTS Stadium in September last year. Mikey Dunn put The Colls 1-0 up before half-time.

Michael Fowler equalised early in the second half from the penalty spot, before Carl Finnigan fired Dunston ahead with 72 minutes played. Adam Priestley then equalised for Pontefract with 14 minutes to go. Dunston were awarded another penalty on 81 minutes which was scored by Terry Galbraith. The final twist, in a crazy game, came in the 86th minute when Priestley scored his second goal with the game finishing level.
