PREVIEW | Liversedge (A)

Dunston have yet play a fixture since the 4-1 home win against Ashington almost two weeks ago. It was a comprehensive afternoon as goals from Jack Maskell, Michael Pearson, David Robinson and Will Constantine (OG) saw Dunston make it eleven games unbeaten. A run which stretches back to October the 14th when Dunston were defeated 3-2 against North Ferriby at The UTS Stadium.

The away form of Dunston has been impressive so far this season in the league. In the eleven games away from home, Dunston have only lost once, away at Ashington, and have enjoyed eight wins which has already equalled last season's tally. The two draws away from home came at 5th place, Pontefract Collieries, and league leaders, Stockton Town.

The Anchors have stood firm at the top of the Northern Premier League East table since the back-end of 2023. They currently sit ten points ahead of Dunston, however, they have played four more games. In second is Belper Town who currently find themselves four points ahead of Dunston having played five more games.

The rest of the top five is made up by Hebburn Town and the aforementioned Pontefract, with Consett, North Ferriby, Carlton Town and Newton Aycliffe amongst the chasing pack.

A win for Dunston on Saturday would not see any progression up the table however, it would once again pile further pressure on the sides around us.

THE OPPOSITION

Liversedge currently sit 13th in the league table on 30 points after 24 games. 'Sedge' were relegated from Northern Premier League Premier Division last year surviving just one season at that level after winning the East Division two seasons ago.

Saturday's hosts have also suffered due to the weather over the course of the season having hosted only ten home league games, the same number as Dunston. They currently sit 18th out of 20 in the form table having picked up four points from their last six games.

In their last outing, they fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Sheffield FC, with Nathan Modest scoring the winning goal in the 69th minute for 'The Club'. Prior to that, Liversedge recorded an impressive 3-1 win away at play-off chasing Carlton Town. Liam Hardy, Eddie Church and Jack Carr all getting on the scoresheet.

RECENT MEETINGS

Back in September, the two sides met at The UTS Stadium. Dunston squandered chance after chance in final ten minutes and looked as if we were heading for a goalless draw however, Luke Carr headed home from a Craig Baxter cross to win the game for Dunston in the 96th minute.

Before that, both sides met twice in the 2021/22 season. The year Liversedge were crowned champions. In September 2021, Dunston were defeated 2-0 away at Liversedge. In the starting XI that day, only Craig Baxter, Phil Turnbull and Michael Pearson remain at the club. Later that season, Liveresedge ran rampant with a 4-0 win at The UTS Stadium in March 2022.
