PREVIEW | Hebburn Town (A)

Dunston make the short trip to the Hebburn Sports Ground on Saturday December 30th. A pitch inspection has been scheduled for 10am due to the rainfall in recent days. We will communicate the outcome as soon as we know.

If the game goes ahead, Dunston will be looking to make it six wins in a row and strengthen our grip on the play-off spots with games in hand. Last time out for Dunston it was a 2-1 win at The UTS Stadium against Newton Aycliffe.

The visitors took an early lead on 14 minutes through Cieran Jackson. Dunston levelled through Jack Maskell on 35 minutes, and a stunner from David Robinson on the stroke of half-time secured the three points. The win took Dunston up to 4th place on 33 points after 16 games.

Meanwhile, Hebburn Town currently sit in 2nd place on 38 points, having played three more games than Dunston. On Boxing Day, The Hornets were defeated 4-0 away at Ashington.

RECENT GAMES

The last three meetings between the sides have been close encounters, with Hebburn having the better of the recent results. Earlier in the season, an Amar Purewal header gave The Hornets a 1-0 win at The UTS Stadium. Last season at The UTS Stadium, it was also 1-0 to Hebburn with Amar Purewal again scoring the only goal.

The meeting between the two sides at Hebburn Sports Ground last season ended in a 1-1 draw. Jon Shaw was dismissed for Dunston midway through the half, however Dale Pearson fired Dunston ahead just before half-time. Liam Murray equalised for the hosts shortly after the break.

WHAT WE'RE SAYING

After the 2-1 win against Newton Aycliffe on Boxing Day, Manager Jon McDonald looked ahead to Saturday's game.

"It'll be a tough game. They know us and we know them. They've had a heavy defeat so they will be looking to bounce-back on Saturday.

"We're one of the form teams in the league and we've won our last five games. It's a competitive and ruthless league, but with what we've got in the dressing room, we don't fear anybody."

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

Hebburn Goalkeeper Coach Carl Morris has also shared his thoughts ahead of Saturday's fixture via the Hebburn Town website.

"We will certainly be looking to make things right after the defeat to Ashington on Boxing Day. It's a good group of lads we have got and we will make sure we are ready to go again on Saturday against Dunston.

"It's a tough game, but we will be ready."
