PREVIEW | Carlton Town (A)

Since the 11-game unbeaten run was ended away at Liversedge on February 17th, Jon McDonald's men have since gone five games unbeaten. Dunston currently sit 2nd the Pitching In Northern Premier League East table, 11 points behind league leaders Stockton Town with three games in hand, making Tuesday's game at Carlton Town a crucial one as Dunston look to close the gap.

Most recently, Dunston were in action at home against Belper Town, albeit two hours down the road. In the top of the table clash, Dunston were able to secure a 3-1 win as Jack Maskell netted a hat-trick.

Dunston will come into the encounter away at Carlton full of confidence after Saturday's result, but also the away form in general has been superb. After 14 away games this season, Dunston have picked up 30 points. The most in the division away from home.

A win for Dunston on Tuesday night would see the club progress to 58 points, just two points off last season's total, and move to within eight points of Stockton Town. Three points would also Dunston create a nine-point buffer from sixth-place.

THE OPPOSITION

The Millers will provide a tough test on Tuesday night and they are amongst the chasing pack vying for a play-off spot. They currently sit nine points outside the play-offs however, they do have as many as five and six games in hand on some of the sides above them.

Last Saturday, Carlton were defeated 2-1 at home by the league leaders, Stockton Town. After conceding after two minutes, Carlton equalised in the first minute of the second half through Khyle Sargeant. However, just five minutes later, Tom Coulthard netted the winner for The Anchors.

The Millers have had a mixed run of form as of late picking up with two wins, three defeats, and one draw in their last six games, leaving them 13th out of 20 in the league's form table.

LAST TIME OUT

Despite reaching the final stages of the 2023-24 season, the two sides haven't met since the final game of last season. In a pivotal game for both clubs, The Millers came out on top with a 2-0 win. Carlton were in need of three points to ensure their safety in the division, whilst Dunston also needed three points as well as other results going their way in order to obtain a play-off spot.

Carlton got off to a flying start as Kieran Watson capitalised on a defensive error to fire his side into the lead with just five minutes played. Dunston were handed a lifeline early in the second half when they were awarded a penalty however, Phil Turnbull's spot-kick was saved by Michael Emery. In the closing stages of the game, Nat Watson ensured his side claimed the three points tapping home at the back-post following a pinpoint cross.
