Seaham (A) | Preview
Dunston begin the pre-season schedule with an away game against Northern League Division One side, Seaham Red Star on Saturday, July 8th.
The game has been moved to a 1:30pm kick-off and will now take place at the Ford Quarry Hub in Sunderland.
Newly appointed Manager Jon McDonald will take charge of his first game since stepping into the hot seat back in early-May.
The new boss has put his own stamp on the team bringing in a total of six new players which includes Luke Carr, Jack Maskell, Chris McDonald, JJ Chrisp, David Robinson and Jack Walker. Saturday could see the first appearances of these players in a Dunston shirt.
Seaham Red Star endured a tough season as they battled to a 16th place finish in Northern League Division One. They finished just five points above relegated Thornaby.
The ‘Star’ will be looking to improve on last season’s finish and Manager Mark Collingwood has managed to sign on many of last season’s squad. They have also been active in the transfer market bringing in players such as Fin Neary, Josh Crews, Adam Burnicle, Joe Innes and Owen Nichols.
The most recent meeting between the two sides came about in a Northern League fixture in 2018.
On that day, it was Jack Elliott and Jake Stafford on the scoresheet as Dunston won 2-0 away from home. Dunston are unbeaten in their last three outings against Seaham, winning two and drawing one.
The game will take place at the Ford Quarry Hub in Sunderland and will kick off at 1:30pm. (SR4 0RW)
