Having recorded wins in their last two away matches, and also fighting back from two goals down to claim a vital point at home to Ossett United on Tuesday night, Dunston travelled to Worksop full of confidence of another positive result. Jon Shaw returned to the starting lineup following a game out, whilst Dan Staples made his first league start.

The best chance of the opening exchanges went the way of centre back Shaw, who forced the Tigers stopper Sebastian Malkowski into a smart double save at the back post as Dunston started brightly.

Worksop then grew into the game on home turf and had a plethora of chances; first Staples collected the ball comfortably from a James Hanson header, before Terry Galbraith made a superb goal line clearance to deny Terry Hawkridge who had lobbed Staples. 

The Tigers continued to press as the first half ebbed on, and Hutchinson did well down the right to pull back for Jay Rollins, however the forward could only curl an effort over. On 28 minutes, Worksop had a glorious opportunity to open the scoring when Hanson was put through on goal, but the striker miss hit the ball and put his effort wide. 

Dunston were living dangerously, and received a sucker-punch blow on the stroke of halftime as Worksop opened the scoring. It was midfielder Paul Green who was the goalscorer, heading home from a cross despite the suspicion of a handball in the process. The hosts didn't care, and went in ahead a goal to the good.

Jake Jensen almost levelled for Dunston straight after the beginning of the second half, shooting low into the bottom corner, only for Malkowski to save brilliantly to deny the Dunston man a first competitive goal.

On 49 minutes, it was the hosts who doubled their lead and developed some breathing space. Jay Rollins wrestled his man off the ball, drove and rolled the ball past Staples to give the home side a buffer with forty minutes of the game to play.

On 57 minutes, Worksop put the game seemingly to bed. Terry Hawkridge it was this time getting himself on the scoresheet. Dunston were dispossessed in midfield, and when Hawkridge was given the ball, he skipped past two challenges and fired past Staples to make Dunston's afternoon go from bad to worse. 

Chris Swailes rang the changes to try and salvage something from the game, but with the Tigers controlling proceedings and slowing the game down, Dunston were finding it hard to break the home side down. A consolation goal was scored by the impressive and hardworking Jensen, with the youngster finishing brilliantly after being played through by Michael Fowler to give the away side some hope.

The goal came too late however, and Worksop held out for their first win of the season, compounding Dunston to a second league defeat of the season.
