REPORT | Shildon (A)

A goal in either half from Michael Fowler ensured Dunston earned their first victory of the season in a 2-0 away win. Fowler grabbed his first goal of the evening after 17 minutes before doubling the lead with a sublime individual goal on 67 minutes.

Dunston almost had the lead after just 6 minutes. The ball fell to Jon Shaw on the edge of the box and he sided-footed the ball just wide of the target.

After dominating much of the game, Fowler netted the opener with 17 minutes on the clock. In a brilliant passing move, Will Jenkins back-heeled the ball to Fowler on the edge of the box and the latter thumped the ball underneath Curran and into the back of the net.

Dunston almost had another 6 minutes later as Curran was called into action to stop Coulson at his front-post before Pearson blasted the rebound over the bar.

The hosts almost equalised minutes before half-time as the ball was swung into the box from a set-piece and Anderson tipped a headed effort over the bar.

On 65 minutes, Shildon should have equalised. They broke forward and a low cross into the box somehow evaded everyone.

Dunston punished the missed chance and doubled their lead on 67 minutes. Fowler picked the ball up from just inside his own half and powered forwards before unleashing a wicked shot into the back of the net.

After the goal, Dunston adjusted well and were able to keep the hosts quiet and record a huge win on the road.

Attention turns to Saturday as we visit Bridlington Town in the FA Cup Preliminary Round.
