REPORT | Ossett United (H)

A spirited second-half display saw Dunston earn a point as they drew 3-3 with Ossett United. A brace from Luke Aldrich in the first half and header Brad Beatson had the visitors 3-1 ahead at half-time. Dunston’s first half goal came from the penalty spot courtesy of Michael Fowler.

A wondergoal from Jack Elliott 10 minutes into the second-half reduced the deficit before Ursene Mouanda scored a late equaliser to rescue an important point at The UTS Stadium.

The first chance of the game fell to Dunston after just three minutes. Jack Elliott burst away down the left-hand side and played the ball into the box to Will Jenkins who just curled his effort wide.

Ossett settled the quicker of the two teams and found the opening goal of the encounter after just 4 minutes played. An attacking move down the right resulted in the ball being whipped into the box for Luke Aldrich who was left unmarked and slotted the ball past Anderson.

Things went from bad to worse for Dunston as Ossett doubled their lead with just 8 minutes on the clock. Once again, Aldrich was the scorer as he backheeled the ball past James Anderson to make it 0-2.

The visitors didn’t show any signs of letting up and came close to adding a third on 12 minutes. Fearon found himself in on goal after a slack Michael Pearson back pass however, Anderson came to his teammate’s aid and swooped in to claim the ball just before a shot was released.

After a lacklustre start, Dunston showed signs of settling and came millimetres from clawing a goal back on 20 minutes. Fowler had a powerful shot saved by Hall before Elliott and Coulson both had shots on the rebound somehow not end up in the back of the net.

The positive response from Dunston was rewarded as Richard Coulson was brought down inside the area on 26 minutes and Dunston were awarded a penalty. Fowler stepped up and made no mistake slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

The non-stop half of football continued, and the equaliser almost came as Coulson broke through on goal and his shot was palmed away by Hall.

After getting themselves back into the game, Dunston once again found themselves two goals down after 32 minutes. From a corner, Bradley Beatson was left unmarked and had a simple header to add a third goal for the visitors.

Once again, Dunston responded well and should have pulled a goal back just before half-time as an Elliott cross was aimed for Fowler however, the latter couldn’t quite get the shot away.

Into the second half, it was one-way traffic as Dunston looked to claw back into the game. On 55 minutes, Jack Elliott scored an absolute wondergoal from distance as a left-footed shot was cannoned into the top corner.

As the action was heating up, tempers started to flare, and the handbags were out as both sides got involved with some pushing and shoving. Despite the off the ball shenanigans, Dunston continued to press for an equaliser and Will Jenkins came close with 20 minutes left as he volleyed an effort over the bar.

Elliott continues to cause all sorts of problems down the right and played a number of teasing crosses into the box, only for Ossett to deal with them.

However, on 88 minutes, the visitors were finally pegged back to a level-game as Elliot picked out Ursene Mouanda who prodded the ball home with a low shot into the bottom right corner.

With seven minutes of additional time added on, Dunston were unable to find a winner as the game ended 3-3. It’s now three games unbeaten for Dunston in all competitions and four points out of a possible nine picked up in the league.
