In a frantic first half in which there were four goals, it was Dunston who had the first chance of the half. A corner was swung in, but Djaló who met the cross could only direct his header over the bar. Coombe was called into action soon after when Fowler was played in by Djalo, however the Consett stopper saved well.

Despite the early pressure, it was the visitors who had the lead on 14 minutes. A speculative long range effort cannoned off the bar, and with Anderson committed, forward Zak Atkinson was able to head into an empty net to give the newly promoted away side the lead.

On the half hour mark, Djaló made amends for his earlier miss by getting Dunston level. With Jack Elliott causing his usual headaches for defenders down the left, he was able to charge down the by-line and cross for Djaló who prodded an effort home for 1-1.

Despite this reply, Dunston were level for just 7 minutes. With Dunston on the attack, a rash tackle on Jake Jensen went unchallenged. On the counter, Consett were dispossessed, but a miss-kick from James Anderson led to another chance for the visitors, and a low cross was placed into the net by James Orrell to restore the away sides lead.

Dunston fought back again though and were level within under a minute. Sado Djaló was again the scorer, converting another Elliott cross brilliantly to tie the game up going into halftime. The 464 inside the UTS Stadium were being treated to a real classic Derby Day match in what was a hectic first 45 minutes.

Dunston looked to take the ascendancy in the second half and had the first few chances when Jensen went close with a curling effort, and Jon Shaw met a corner only to place an effort just wide on the volley. Another marauding run from Elliott and a neat one-two with Fowler led to the ball falling to Djaló who at a stretch could only fire wide.

Fowler was the next to come close as Dunston took control of the game midway through the second half, firing over on the turn after a neat dummy from Djaló. Will Jenkins saw a corner deflect over, and then FINALLY Dunston had the lead with the Consett defence buckling under the relentless pressure. Another mazy run from Jack Elliott down the left saw the ball pulled back to substitute Liam Thear in the box who rifled an effort past Coombe to send the home fans into raptures.

Dunston were able to make the game safe deep in the match via loanee Will Jenkins. The winger picked the ball up following good work from Djaló to round his defender and slot into the bottom corner of the net to seal victory.
