Goals from Liam Thear either side of half-time secured all three points for Dunston. An important win with now just six games to go in the season.

Jon Shaw and Jack Camarda returned to the starting line-up in place of Jude Swailes and Craig Scott with Dale Pearson, Sado Djalo and Carl Finnigan leading the line for the second consecutive game.

The opening forty-five minutes was a scrappy affair with the first sighting on goal coming with 19 minutes played. Matt Broadly’s deflected effort going out for a corner for the hosts.

Dunston looked to take control of the game and almost went ahead as Dale Pearson skewed an effort wide before the deadlock was then broken just five minutes later.

A Phil Turnbull corner was fizzed towards the back post where Liam Thear was waiting to scramble the ball over the line from close range.

Dunston almost found a second on the stroke of half-time as Carl Finnigan’s shot on the volley from 25-yards was clawed away by James Hitchcock.

The hosts began the second half much, much brighter and almost levelled on 50 minutes. Dan Staples reacted quickly to get down low and stop a stinging shot from Bridlington.

One minute later, The Seasiders equalised. A long-range, curling effort from Tom Algar dropped into the bottom corner.

After taking the lead in the last two games and conceding late equalisers, it was important to react well after conceding and that’s exactly what happened.

A couple of minutes after conceding, a long-range piledriver from Djalo cannoned back off the post.

Just before the hour-mark, Dunston regained the lead as Liam Thear scored his fourth goal in two games. Thear found a yard of space on the edge of the box before firing past Hitchcock with an emphatic finish.

Dunston continued to turn the screw and were unlucky not to get a third as Dale Pearson had a shot saved and tipped onto the post before Carl Finnigan then struck the crossbar.

Once again, Djalo came close and the forward struck the ball on the volley with his left foot but, it was just wide of the target.

Dunston managed to hold on at the end and were good value for the three points. Next up we host Grimsby Borough (Saturday April 1st) in the first of three home games coming up on the bounce.
