PREVIEW | Bridlington Town (A)

FORM

After squandering a two goal lead late in the game on Tuesday night away at Stocksbridge Park Steels, Dunston are desperate to ensure they bring all three points home this time out. Prior to Tuesday, a last gasp win over Brighouse was followed by a 1-1 draw against North Shields, with another late goal proving decisive as North Shields struck in injury time to deny Dunston all three points. Chris Swailes' side sit 6th in the table going into the fixture, one place outside the playoff places. However, they do still have a game in hand on Stocksbridge Park Steels above them in 5th, in what is becoming a really tight, exciting race for the playoffs. Just seven points separate Stockton in 3rd to Dunston in 6th, and so it is now a vital time for Dunston to ensure they put wins on the board.

Bridlington find themselves in 11th place in the table, neither challenging for the playoffs nor fighting relegation. They have had a steady season, but defensive frailties have been their undoing, with Brid currently on a goal difference of -19. Their last five in the league has seen them pick up very respectable wins over Stockton Town and Brighouse Town, but defeat to Cleethorpes and draws against Long Eaton and Pontefract mean a late surge up the table has been somewhat stalled.

LAST TIME OUT

The sides have already met twice this season. Once in the FA Cup very early in the season, and once at the UTS Stadium in NPL action. It was Dunston's day as goals from Will Jenkins, Jack Elliott and Sadó Djaló secured victory in the FA Cup Preliminary round. In early November, Bridlington made the trip to the north east and despite Dunston going ahead early via Will Jenkins, Joe Norton equalised deep in injury time to rescue a point for the visitors.
