Frickley Athletic vs Dunston UTS FC - Match preview.

Dunston UTS FC travel to Frickley Athletic this coming Saturday in The Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division.

Frickley Athletic sit 2 points away from the relegation places, so there will be a lot riding on the result of this encounter for both sides.

Dunston have been in fine form since the turn of the year, having only lost once, and still have a mathematical chance of reaching the play-offs. Chris Swailes will have a strong squad to choose from, with Terry Galbraith returning from injury.  Jack Elliott will make his 100th appearance for the club, should he play any part in the game.

Last weekends impressive home performance against play-off challengers Stockton Town, showed how good Dunston can be on their day, with plenty of stand out performances.

Speaking to Dunston Forward Michael Fowler he commented:

“There’s still a long way to go in the season, and whilst it’s still mathematically possible to achieve what we want to achieve, we will keep pushing”.

7th placed Dunston are 8 points off 5th placed Stockton Town, who currently occupy the final play-off spot, but could move to within a point of 6th placed Worksop Town, who face a tricky game at home to NPL East Division leaders Marske Utd.

Whilst Dunston have performed strongly at home, their away form, particularly against sides at the lower end of the table, has at times been their Achilles heel. Their only defeat since the turn of the year coming away to Lincoln United, who like Saturdays opponents Frickley Athletic, were in poor form and struggling for points.

Away results at Sheffield FC and Pickering Town also ended in defeat, proving that despite the form and position of clubs, nothing can be taken for granted, particularly away from home, as is the strength and quality of this league.

Dunston came out on top the last time the two sides met, recording their biggest win of the season, in 6-0 win at The UTS Stadium back in September, thanks in part to a Liam Thear hat-trick. The result heralding a six game winning streak for Dunston.
