Wil Shaw becomes first summer signing!

We are delighted to confirm the signing of versatile attacking midfielder, Wil Shaw.
The 21-year old has spent the last two seasons at fellow Northern Premier League East side, Consett AFC.
In Wil's first season with The Steelmen, he netted a total of 14 goals. The fine form of Shaw continued into last season as he added another seven goals to his tally whilst also chipping in with an impressive 11 assists.
Shaw is a player who has been on Jon McDonald's radar for a long time now, and the Dunston manager is thrilled to have finally acquired his services.
"Wil is a player we have followed for the last two seasons. We actually had him in training with us before he signed for Consett a few years ago. He is another very good young player, only 21-years-old, and he will only continue to get better.
"His numbers are very good last season with getting 11 assists and scoring seven times. The previous season, he scored 14 goals from midfield. In addition to this, he's got all the personal and physical attributes that we want in a player. I believe this is another excellent signing for Dunston, and I am excited to see what Wil can achieve for us," McDonald said.
Eric Murphy PhotographerOur new addition also commented on his arrival and is looking forward to getting started in NE11.
"I'm happy to be here. It's been in the works for a little while now, so to finally get it sorted and be part of the club is a great feeling. When I spoke to Jon, it was clear what he wanted from me and where I would fit into his team. He has given me a lot of confidence by showing faith in me.
"Dunston have shown a lot of ambition and I feel like this is the right club for me to progress. The club have shown they are willing to invest in youth, whilst also having some very experienced players who have played at the top level, so it's a good mix," he said.
Shaw also touched on what kind of player he is and what the supporters can expect from him heading into the 2025-26 campaign.
"I'm a player who likes to score goals and assist, but the main thing for me is making sure that I can help the team to win.
"I attended both play-off games last season and I thought Dunston were very unlucky. I am hoping I can help the club go that one step further this year. It was amazing to see how passionate the fans were in them games and how much they care about their club. I can't wait to get going."
Welcome to Dunston, Wil!
