"We have massive faith in the squad" | Jon McDonald Post-Sherwood

Jon McDonald praised his side after yesterday's 2-1 win away at Sherwood Colliery.
It was an important three points after a mixed bag of results throughout February. A brace from JJ O'Donnell saw Dunston come from behind to secure a 2-1 win and climb up to 4th in the league table.
"I thought we were very good in the second half. There were a couple of things that we wanted to adjust at half-time, and the lads executed what we asked them to do," McDonald said.
"As a result of that, I felt like we controlled much of the second half. Our first goal is as good as you will see at this level of football. Patient build-up, a fantastic cross, and a great header. I was really impressed with the character after going a goal down, but that is what we expect from the group. They are a top group, and we have massive faith in the squad.
"Give credit to Sherwood though, I thought they were a decent side who also play a good brand of football.
"The mood is positive, and it always will be. Other than Heaton, where we didn't perform, our performances have deserved something. Using Brighouse away as an example, we had four or five clear-cut chances and, on another night, we win that game comfortably.
"This level of the pyramid is so competitive, no games are easy. You just have to look at the results across the league again yesterday." McDonald added.
Saturday's win at Debdale Park saw two achievements across the Dunston midfield. Phil Turnbull made his 150th appearance for the club, whilst Rory Edwards made his first start.
"I can't say enough positive things about Phil. There is no doubt in my mind that he will leave a legacy at this club. He has been a pivotal signing in the club's history. His level of performances are so consistent, and he's obviously got an incredible football brain.
"What people don't see, is his professionalism in training and the high standards he still sets for himself and his teammates. His biggest strength in my opinion, aside from the football, is how humble he is. He represents everything that is good about Dunston UTS Football Club." McDonald said.
"Rory has been brilliant since he arrived. He's only 19, and a real technician, with great awareness and receiving skills. He has come through the Academy system at Crystal Palace and it is clear to me that he has been very well coached.
"Putting him in the starting line-up shows that we trust him, like we do with every player in our squad. We are excited to see how he develops. Yesterday, he grew into the game, he made some key passes, and he won the ball back for his team a number of times to get us on the attack," he said.
Now, with just 12 games to go, including an away trip to Sheffield on Tuesday, followed by home fixture on Saturday against Emley, Jon McDonald has made it clear that the aim has not changed.
"The aim is simple, to win all 12 games and see where that takes us. Promotion is our collective objective, and that hasn't changed."
