The young shotstopper joins the club ahead of our clash away at Grimsby Borough on Saturday. Jones currently plays for Newcastle United U18s and picked up some valuable experience earlier in the season with a short stint at Ashington.

“Jon [McDonald] contacted Newcastle and my agent to enquire about having me on loan as he had watched me when I was at Ashington. As soon as I found out Dunston were interested, I was really excited for the challenge ahead and couldn’t wait to get started,” Jones said.

“I started playing football around the age of 5 for Soccerena before I moved to my dad’s team Easington Colliery and that is where I got picked up by Newcastle when I was 7 and I have been there ever since.

“Now at Dunston, I want to make the biggest impact possible and I want to try and help the club in their quest for promotion.”
