We are delighted to announce that Tom Devitt has signed a contract with the club until the end of the 2025-26 season.
The centre half joined the club on a one-month loan deal in October from Hebburn Town and has went on to make six appearances so far, all coming in the league.
Devitt, 28, scored on his debut last month against Heaton Stannington in a 3-2 win. He has also yet to lose a game as he has played a pivotal role in the club's current six-game unbeaten run in league action.
"Tom has done very well since he arrived on loan. His performances have been good and he has integrated seamlessly into our group," Jon McDonald said.
"When we knew there may be an opportunity to secure him on a permanent basis, we didn't hesitate.
"At 28-years-old, he is at a good age and also has experience of winning this league only last season. I am grateful to Bobby Moore and Hebburn for their assistance with the deal."
Devitt, formerly of Gateshead, Stranraer, and Blyth Spartans, has also commented following signing a contract at the UTS Stadium:
"I've really enjoyed it. The lads have been top class and so have the coaching staff, Jon in particular. We're on a decent run of form as well so it is just a case of keeping that going and hopefully continuing what we have started and pushing towards the top of the table.
"You can tell it's a really close-knit group here, from the committee, to the fans, to the players. It seems like a really friendly, well-run club, so it's been seamless. I knew a few of the lads already so that always helps, but it's been brilliant and the lads have been top class."
Devitt also spoke about what it was that attracted him to the club:
"Dunston have always had a good side, I've played against them loads over the last few years and it has always been a really tight game. After speaking to Jon, I saw how valued he's made me feel and how wanted he's made me feel, as well as the other lads who I've spoken to.
"When I got here, I didn't really know how close-knit, well-ran, and positive it was around the place until I came here on loan. I've had a good chat with the Manager and a good chat with the Chairmen and it seems like a club that wants to go places. Hopefully we can make that happen while I'm here.
"It's no secret that we want to be at the top end of the table, hopefully that's what that can happen. As a collective, the play-offs has to be the least of our expectations, if not challenging for the top spot. With the squad that we have got here, there is no reason why we can't do that."
We would like to place a massive thank you to Hebburn Town for their assistance with the deal.
A big (official) welcome to Dunston, Devs!
