NEW SIGNING | Welcome, Scott Lowery

The 28-year-old centre-half joins Dunston on a permanent basis becoming the clubs’ fourth summer signing.

Following on from Harvey Neary and Josh Gilchrist, Lowery becomes the third player to arrive at the club from Hillheads Park this summer after spending the last five seasons at Whitley Bay.

The imposing defender was on a dual registration last season and made one appearance for Dunston as he played 90 minutes in a 5-2 away win over Newton Aycliffe in April.

Now, Lowery makes the move to The UTS Stadium official, and he can’t wait to get going.

“The move came about when Jon got in touch with me at the end of last season and asked if it would be something I was interested in and what plans he has for the upcoming season.

“With the quality that Dunston have in their players and coaches, it was an honour to be approached.” Lowery said.

“Last season, with me being dual-registered, I got a good taste of what it is like in the changing room and on the pitch and I really enjoyed it. Everyone at the club was great and it made it an easy decision.

“I love playing football and hopefully you will be able to see that from me on the pitch. I will always give my all to help the club succeed.” He added.

Lowery has set his aims high ahead of the new season as he aims for a successful season in NE11.

“In terms of personal goals for me this year, with being a defender, you want as many clean sheets as possible, but I also want to chip in with a few up the other end of the pitch.

“As a squad, with the quality that Dunston have in the players and management staff, I’m sure it will be a successful season.” Lowery said.

Jon McDonald has also suggested that Lowery could be a very important player for the season ahead:

“Scotty was dual registered with us last season and he has now signed permanently. He is an imposing figure and an aerial threat. He is an asset in both boxes.

“He’s also a great lad and he has already had a taste of things at the club, and he will fit straight into how we operate.” McDonald said.
