NEW SIGNING | Welcome, Rory Edwards!

Dunston UTS FC are pleased to announce the signing of 19-year-old midfielder, Rory Edwards.

The former Crystal Palace Academy prospect becomes Jon McDonald's newest recruit as we head into the second half of the season. The London-born midfielder is currently studying at Durham University and will be looking to make big strides with his footballing career at the UTS Stadium.

"The move came about through my coach at Durham University. I've been representing Durham United in the Wearside League and I was looking to play at a higher level. He helped me get the move and I can't wait to get started," Rory said.

"I have played football for as long as I can remember. I signed for Crystal Palace aged ten and played for them for six years.  It was a great experience playing the top sides in England and across Europe. I travelled to Belgium, The Netherlands, and France playing in international tournaments against the likes of Schalke, Atalanta, and PSG.

"Following Palace, I played for the showcase team Kinetic Foundation whilst also playing men's football. Last season I had over 30 starts at Step 5 with Epson and Ewell after helping them to promotion the season before."

Upon his arrival, Edwards will be hoping to make a fast start to life at Dunston and will be looking to help the team continue the push for promotion in the second half of the season.

"I have trained three times with the boys and I have really enjoyed it. The quality of the sessions are high and the lads are great craic. I'm really looking forward to getting involved and getting to know them all better.

"I'd say I'm a box-to-box midfielder who wants to get on the ball and make an impact by breaking lines and creating opportunities. I also don't mind getting on the end of one or two either!

"For the remainder of the season, I have set the target of helping Dunston get promoted. Even though I have only been here for a short while, I can tell how much it would mean to the players and the staff. I would love to contribute in any way that I can and I am ready to give everything I have to help make that happen," he said.

Dunston UTS FC Manager Jon McDonald has also commented on Rory's arrival at the club:

"Rory is a player who was recommended to us by somebody who we respect. He has trained with us a number of times now and we have already been impressed by both his quality and attitude. This is another good addition to our squad."

Welcome to Dunston, Rory!
