NEW SIGNING | Welcome, Josh Gilchrist

The attacking midfielder becomes Jon McDonald’s third summer signing ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
The 21-year-old joins Dunston after a successful period at Whitley Bay where he finished the season as top scorer for The Seahorses. Gilchrist also featured 39 times as a youngster for Newcastle United U18s between 2018-2021 where he scored five goals and registered four assists.
Gilchrist becomes our third summer signing following the arrivals of Harvey Neary and Scott Robson.
“I spoke to Jon [McDonald] at the end of the season and I was very impressed with last years’ performance from Dunston. Everyone that I have spoken to have mentioned nothing but fantastic things about the club so it was something that I was very interested in after the initial conversation with Jon.” He said.
“I’d describe myself as a forward-thinking player who likes to create and try to make things happen. I enjoy playing as a 10 or through the middle, but I can play anywhere across the front three.
“I think the main objective this season for the club is go one more. I’m sure all the lads will be aiming for the same. I’m looking forward to being a part of it all and giving it a good go.” Gilchrist added.
Dunston UTS Manager, Jon McDonald, has also spoken on the arrival of the club’s newest acquisition:
“Josh is an intelligent player; he’s got very good technical ability, and he can finish. He was well thought of at Newcastle United during his years at the academy.
“We feel we are getting him at a good stage of his career. He’s had a few seasons in non-league and now knows what it’s all about. I’m excited to see what he can achieve at Dunston.”
