'Scrappy' joined the club exactly ten years ago today in September 2015 and has went on to make over 200 appearances for the club. After battling through two major injury setbacks during his time at the UTS Stadium, Thear will now have the opportunity to get back to match sharpness at our Northern League neighbours.

On Thear's dual registration to Birtley, Jon McDonald has said:

"Scrappy will be heading out on a short-term loan to get valuable game time, to build his sharpness. He has worked hard to get fit and remains an important part of our plans. This move is purely about helping him get back to his best and we are looking forward to seeing him return match-fit and ready to make an impact."
