Josh Donaldson signs for Dunston UTS on season-long loan

Dunston UTS have completed the signing of centre-forward Josh Donaldson on a season-long loan from Hartlepool United.

Josh joins the Blues on loan after signing for National League side Hartlepool United this afternoon, with his contract at Newcastle United expiring earlier this summer.

The 19-year-old joined Newcastle United in 2019 and has played regularly for the Magpies’ U18 and U21 sides. This includes playing against Paris Saint-Germain & AC Milan in the UEFA Youth League during the 2023/24 season.

The Gateshead-born centre-forward scored on his EFL Trophy debut last season, against then League Two side Bradford City.

Josh said: "When the loan offer came in for me from Dunston, I had multiple conversations with Jon [McDonald] and he really sold it to me. With the way he wants to play and how ambitious the club is as a whole, it really excited me”.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead. I know this is an ambitious club who are trying to move forward, but have fallen at the final hurdle in the last two seasons. So, my goal is the same as everyone else’s at the club, gain promotion”.

“I’d describe myself as an all-round centre-forward who has multiple attributes and can help this team in many ways, most importantly with goals”.
