JJ Chrisp pens new deal at The UTS Stadium
We are thrilled to confirm 20-year-old, JJ Chrisp, has signed a contract extension with the club keeping him at The UTS Stadium until 2026.
Chrisp made 29 appearances in his debut season for the club and showed his versatility playing at both left back and in midfield.
"I signed a new contract with the club because I've loved my first season here. Everyone involved with the club have been brilliant with me and we have an unreal dressing room.
"The first season was class. I've enjoyed playing with the lads and for us to reach the play-off final in my first season at the club was a great achievement. The lads have a great togetherness and I am excited to see what we can do next season." Chrisp said.
The Dunston youngster won four man of the match awards in his 29 appearances last season and played a pivotal role in helping the club achieve its highest ever finish. However, an injury at the backend of the campaign ruled JJ out of the final few games and ultimately missed out on playing in the play-offs.
"It was a tough one getting injured so close to the end of the season," he said.
"The same thing happened to me the season before when I was at North Shields. The lads put maximum effort in and didn't leave anything in the tank after the last few games. It was just a shame I couldn't be a part of them.
"I was gutted that we fell at the final hurdle in the play-offs knowing what could have been, but the lads have done exceptionally well this season under the circumstances. Playing away from home for a lot of the season and still finishing third in the league shows how much character there is in this changing room," he added.
With the contract extension now signed, Chrisp has his sights set firmly on next season.
"My aims for the upcoming season are to win the league really. That was our target at the start of last season and we are not going to change that."
