Dunston, along with 159 other clubs who have progressed into the first qualifying round, will be joined by an additional 72 teams from the seventh tier of English football. The ties will be played on Saturday 2nd September.

Ashton United enter the competition at this round and are currently placed fifth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. The two sides met in October last season, in the Isuzu FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round. Dunston came out on top after a victorious penalty shootout.

Dunston will hope to go into the game continuing their incredible start to the season, after winning their opening three games of the season. Dunston will play three more league games ahead of the FA Cup tie, playing host to local sides Consett and Hebburn Town, as well as a trip to Belper Town.
