Club News| Jack Maskell

Jack Maskell has completed a transfer to National League North side Darlington FC for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old forward joined Dunston last summer after making the move from Northern League Division Two side, Horden CW. Stepping up two leagues, Maskell continued to impress as he registered 26 goals and nine assists in 38 games for the club.

Maskell cleaned up at the end-of-season presentation night as he claimed the Players' Player of the Season, Committee's Player of the Season, Supporter's Player of the Season, Top Goal Scorer, and Goal of the Season awards.

We are incredibly grateful for the contributions that Jack made last season and we are proud to have played a part in what will be a very successful career.

"Jack has been exceptional for Dunston UTS. I have spoken to him at length for a number of weeks and he has expressed his desire to play at a higher level and we fully support him with this." Dunston Manager Jon McDonald said.

"As a club, we've played our part in developing him and preparing him for the next stage of his career. He's in good hands with Steve and Terry and we wish him every success moving forward.

"Our full focus is now on preparing Dunston for the new season." McDonald added.

Club Co-Chairmen, Billy Irwin and Tony Cleugh, have also issued a joint-statement on the departure of Jack Maskell:

"We both would like to stress to our supporters that the club has tried everything in its power to keep Jack for next season and beyond but unfortunately an offer has been made from another club.

"We have always promised Jack if a fair offer came in from a club higher up the pyramid we would not stand in his way and allow him to talk to them. Jack has always stressed that he wants to play at the highest level possible and, as a club, we are sorry to see him go.

"We want to wish Jack all the best at Darlington FC and thank you for everything last season."

Good luck, Jack!
