Assistant Manager Jon McDonald ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy tie

Jon McDonald gives his thoughts ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy game against Coalville Town.

After going ten games unbeaten in all competitions, next up for Dunston is a tricky test against Step 3 Coalville Town in Isuzu FA Trophy First Round. Coalville recently progressed to the First Round of The FA Cup after a huge upset win away at National League Notts County - a game Coalville won 3-2.

This season, with things going extremely well on the pitch, Dunston will be looking to reach the Second Round for this first time in our history. Assistant Manager Jon McDonald has expressed his delight with the way things have been unfolding so far this season.

"On the pitch, we have a good balance, lads with good experience of playing higher up the pyramid, and some younger lads who are ambitious and hungry.

"Away from the pitch, we have a dressing room which is full of good people, honest lads, who want to do well for this club. The togetherness is as good as I've ever seen."

When asked about the upcoming FA Trophy 1st Round fixture, Jon discussed how much him and the squad are relishing the test.

"We are all looking forward to it. We are in good form, unbeaten in ten games and playing with no fear.

"We are on home turf, and we have proven this season against Scarborough, Ashton and last season against Bamber Bridge that we can cause teams higher up the pyramid, problems. We will be going all out to win this game, and we are heading into it in a confident mood."

With this being a huge game for club as we look to progress to the 2nd Round, Jon McDonald also talked about how important it is to see as many faces, new and old, through the gates to spur the lads on this Saturday.

"We'd love to see more people through the gates, for this game and all of our home games. We are performing well and are top scorers in the division, so we'd like to think that we can offer an entertaining brand of football.

"Coalville themselves are having a good season, recently beating Notts County and now face Charlton Athletic in the next round of the FA Cup. It all makes for a good week.

"It would be brilliant if the local community could really get behind us for this game, and for the rest of the season."

The big game kicks off this Saturday at 3:00pm at The UTS Stadium - NE 11 9JL.

Tickets are priced at adults (£9), concessions (£6) and under 16's (£1). Season tickets are not valid for this fixture.

We hope to see as many people there as possible as we look for a giant-killing upset and to make history.
