Match Preview | North Ferriby (H)
Dunston get the new Northern Premier League East campaign underway on Saturday afternoon with a visit from North Ferriby at the UTS Stadium (3pm).
Recent Meetings
Jon McDonald’s men will be hoping to avoid a third consecutive home defeat against The Villagers, having lost from winning positions in the 2023/24 & 2024/25 seasons.
Dunston have only managed one win in the four matchups between the two sides since the visitors were promoted, with a 1-0 win at the Dransfield Stadium in March 2024 courtesy of a Jack Maskell header.
In the most recent fixture, a late David Robinson goal wasn’t enough to get any points for the Blues at the Dransfield Stadium in December last year, with goals from Danny East & Tom Corner providing the Villagers with a 2-1 win.
Recent Form
Dunston head into the opening day off the back of an excellent performance away at Morpeth Town on Friday night, drawing 2-2. Results have been mixed throughout pre-season, with just the one win coming at home to Birtley Town, but strong performances against the likes of Gateshead & Darlington put Jon McDonald’s side in a good position heading into Saturday.
The visitors started their season on Saturday afternoon, with an extra-preliminary round tie in the Emirates FA Cup against newly promoted Redcar Athletic. They were beaten 2-0 by the newly promoted Northern Premier League East side, who Dunston will face on August bank holiday Monday. In terms of their pre-season, it’s not been ideal results wise for Chris Bolder’s side with their only win coming against their own development side.
One to watch
Niall Tilsley – The Villagers’ captain picked up their Management’s Player of the Season award for the 2024/25 season, as well as the Players’ Player of the Season, Supporter’s Player of the Season & Goal of the Season award in 2023/24. He enters his seventh season at Ferriby, having previously made over 200 appearances for Pickering Town. He’s described as “the rock at the centre of the North Ferriby defence and an invaluable member of Chris Bolder’s squad”.
