REPORT | Dunston UTS 1 Newton Aycliffe 1

An excellent headed goal by David Robinson ultimately wasn’t enough for three points as a well resolute Newton Aycliffe defence frustrated Dunston.

Jon McDonald made two changes to the side that drew with Consett on Saturday with Jack Walker and David Robinson replacing Chris McDonald and Rory Edwards.

Dunston started the brighter of the two teams with Wil Shaw putting the ball into the back of the net however, the linesman’s flag denied Dunston from taking an early lead.

Michael Pearson had two opportunities to put The Fed ahead however both his efforts were unable to test Seymour in the Aycliffe goal. Dan Turner almost put Dunston ahead however his effort was blocked well by the Aycliffe defence before David Robinson saw his effort saved by Seymour.

The breakthrough came on 32 minutes when Harvey Neary’s excellent cross found Robinson at the back post who headed home to put Dunston ahead. Tom Devitt almost made it 2-0 however his looping header was claimed by Seymour.

Andrew Nelson soon made it 1-1 with a calm finish past Lowson before half-time. Half-time saw the break extended with the referee pulling his calf which saw an appeal go out to the crowd for help out.

The second half finally did get underway with Seymour once again keeping Dunston out this time saving from Wil Shaw before the game began to quiet down.

Rory Edwards saw his free-kick go over the bar before Harvey Neary’s excellent ball saw substitute Sado Djalo sent through on goal however he was brought down just outside the area resulting in a Newton Aycliffe red card.

With six minutes of added time added, despite having ten men, Newton Aycliffe pushed on for a winner and almost won it in the 91st minute however they were denied by the post resulting in the points were shared in an another frustrating night for Dunston.

Next up for Dunston is an away game in the Pitching in Nothern Premier East against Bridlington Town this Saturday.
