Goals from JJ O’Donnell, Tom Devitt and Dan Turner secured an important theee points on a cold Friday  night at the UTS Stadium.

Jon McDonald made three changes to the side from Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with JJ O’Donnell, Rory Edwards and Dan Turner all replacing Sado Djalo, Fin Neary and Wil Shaw.

Following a slow start to the game, Dunston had the first opportunity to take the lead. Phil Turnbull’s cross was headed into the bottom right corner by JJ O’Donnell to put Dunston ahead after 15 minutes.

Following the opener, Dunston’s dominance began with Dan Wilson coming close to a second however, his effort was deflected just wide. From the resulting corner, Tom Devitt poked home from close range to make it 2-0.

It was almost three before the break but Harvey Neary’s effort was excellently stopped by Hunter in the Blyth goal. Robinson and Turner also had efforts narrowly over the bar before the break.

The second half started the same as the first ended with Wilson having an effort narrowly deflected wide before JJ O’Donnell’s 1 on 1 effort was comfortably saved by Hunter.

As the clock struck 70, Dan Turner picked up the ball at the left-side of the area beat his man and rifled an effort into the bottom right corner to seal the three points for Dunston.

No real efforts came in the final 20 minutes of the game with Dunston comfortably seeing the game out despite late pressure from Blyth.

Next up for Dunston is an away game in the Pitching in Nothern Premier East against Redcar Athletic on Boxing Day.
