Goals from Michael Pearson, JJ O’Donnell and Wil Shaw saw Dunston comfortably beat Blyth Spartans to win their 4th game in a row.

Jon McDonald made one change to the side that beat Bridlington Town on Saturday with Rory Edwards replacing Fin Neary

Striker, Harry Gardiner was forced off with an arm injury on 11 minutes being replaced by debutant, Phil Kay. Kay almost made an instant impact 8 minutes later as he saw his shot cleared off the line following a cut back from Chris McDonald.

Dunston continued to cause the Blyth’s backline problems with Harvey Neary pulling a shot wide from a driving run and Wil Shaw having an effort saved by Dobson in the Blyth goal.

Dunston’s dominance paid off on 39 minutes when Michael Pearson headed home from close range following a Phil Turnbull corner to put Dunston 1-0 up at the break.

Blyth started the second half the strongest as they went in search of a goal however were unable to convert consecutive chances from close range.

Another Phil Turnbull corner resulted in another goal for Dunston with JJ O’Donnell’s flicked header landing in the top left corner of the net to put Dunston 2-0 up on 74 minutes.

It soon became three on 83 minutes when Wil Shaw slotted home following good work down the right hand side by David Robinson

Following late pressure from Blyth, Dunston held on to secure an important three points in the league over local rivals.

Next up for Dunston is an away game in the Pitching in Nothern Premier East against Brighouse Town this Saturday.
