A second half strike by JJ O’Donnell salvaged a point for Dunston in a frustrating afternoon against Brighouse.
Jon McDonald made two changes to the side that beat Blyth Spartans on Tuesday with Fin Neary and JJ Chrisp replacing Phil Turnbull and Harry Gardiner.
Dunston started the game the brighter of the two teams with Harvey Neary testing Michael Acquah from distance inside 8 minutes.
Dunston continued to push for an opener and were awarded a penalty on 31 minutes following a foul on Wil Shaw.
JJ O’Donnell had the chance to put Dunston 1-0 up however his effort from the spot was saved by Acquah.
Dunston continued to push however it was Brighouse who opened the scoring when Youssef Chentouf tapped home from close range on 40 minutes.
The second half exactly the same as the first with O’Donnell and Wil Shaw both having chances saved by Acquah.
Dunston’s reward came on 63 minutes when JJ O’Donnell’s made amends for his penalty miss to put Dunston level.
The Blues continued to push for the winner and were denied by Acquah and the woodwork late on to take a point back to the North East.
Next up for Dunston is an away game in the Pitching in Nothern Premier East against Bishop Auckland this Tuesday.
