Match Preview | Bradford (Park Avenue) (A)

Dunston look to continue their perfect start to the season tomorrow afternoon, taking on Bradford Park Avenue at the Horsfall Community Stadium (3pm kick-off).

Recent Meetings

A JJ O’Donnell double gave the Blues a crucial Non-League Day victory in March, beating tomorrow’s hosts 2-1 at the UTS Stadium. O’Donnell opened the scoring by heading in a brilliant Harvey Neary cross, before former Dunston trialist Brendon Daniels equalised from the spot. O’Donnell scored a spot-kick of his own to win the game, after Dale Pearson was brought down by Bradford’s goalkeeper Cameron Mason.

In the reverse fixture at the Horsfall Community Stadium, Jon McDonald’s men fought hard to earn a point with a depleted squad. Kareen Hassam-Smith opened the scoring on thirty-three minutes with a finish into the bottom left corner, before Dan Turner levelled it on the brink of half-time with an incredible strike. Dale Pearson took on three defenders before laying the ball off for Turner on the edge of the penalty area, who curled a powerful effort past Jack Hall in goal.

Recent Form

Dunston have made a flying start to the 2025/26 season, winning their opening four games and keeping three clean sheets. Most recently, a dominant display at home against Ashington provided a 2-0 win on Tuesday night.

Craig Elliott’s side currently sit eleventh in the Northern Premier League East Division, having drawn all three of their opening three league games. They also won their opening game of the Emirates FA Cup, but were knocked out in the Preliminary Round by Avro. Most recently, Bradford earned a hard-fought point against newly promoted Hallam on Tuesday evening.

One to watch

Adriano Moke – Moke recently signed for the Avenue having been an ever-present for Northern Premier League side Guiseley last season. He’s played for numerous clubs across his long career, including many spells in the Football League. He will add a calmness to Bradford’s midfield and bring a wealth of experience.

Jon McDonald’s pre-match thoughts

“Bradford have strengthened their squad in the summer, so we know it will be a tough test. However, we’ve made a strong start to the season and the lads have been excellent in all aspects. We are looking forward to both fixtures over the bank holiday weekend.
