Match Preview | Bishop Auckland (A)

Dunston look to build on an unbeaten week in league action, making the short trip to Bishop Auckland.

Last Meeting

Dunston UTS 3-4 Bishop Auckland (NPL East - 1st February 2025)

The UTS Stadium played host to a seven-goal thriller in February, as Bishop Auckland held off a valiant Dunston fight-back to take all three points. Louis Johnson opened the scoring early on after Tom Devitt was caught out by an excellent first touch, allowing Johnson to superbly finish from outside the box. A dipping strike from Glen Hargrave then caught Dan Lowson out just over ten minutes later, giving the visitors an early two goal lead. The Fed managed to get back on level terms before half-time, as Tom Devitt nodded in a great Phil Turnbull cross from close range, before Micky Pearson turned in a whipped cross from Dale Pearson. A tense second-half ensued, with the next goal not coming until the 79th minute. Dan Lowson was caught off his line by a 40-yard lob from John Howard, sending the away side into raptures. Bishops were awarded a stoppage time penalty after a harsh call against substitute Richard Coulson, allowing Gary Martin to give them a two-goal lead once again. Jude Swailes grabbed a late consolation goal for Dunston but it wasn't enough to earn anything from the game.

They most recently battered Lincoln United 5-0 on Saturday, with interim manager Andy Dixon winning his two games in charge.

Jon McDonald's side are five games unbeaten, despite a frustrating draw against Brighouse Town on Saturday. Dunston have won two of their last three in the league, beating Bridlington Town & Blyth Spartans.

Jon McDonald's Pre-Match Words

"After a positive sequence of results, confidence within our squad remains high. We also have players back from injury for tonight's game".

"Bishop Auckland appear to have renewed belief following two games under their interim manager, which should make for a competitive game".

"We'll aim to continue our momentum and deliver another strong performance".
