Match Preview | Stocksbridge Park Steels (H)

Dunston look for revenge for last season’s play-off final in the Emirates FA Cup tomorrow, welcoming Stocksbridge Park Steels to the UTS Stadium (3pm kick-off).

Last Meeting

The last time the two sides faced needs no introduction, as it saw Stocksbridge promoted to the Northern Premier League Premier Division after winning the 2024/25 play-off final on penalties. The game saw very little chances throughout the 120 minutes of action which ended 0-0, before JJ O’Donnell’s missed penalty allowed the visitors to win it by scoring all their penalties.

League Standings

Dunston UTS – 7th in Northern Premier League East Division

Brighouse Town – 21st in Northern Premier League Premier Division

Recent Form

Jon McDonald’s side have won back-to-back games in cup competitions, most recently beating Brighouse Town 4-1 in the Isuzu FA Trophy. Other than a difficult bank holiday weekend which saw two heavy defeats, the Blues have won all other games in the 2025/26 season.

The Steels have had a difficult start to life at Step 3, sitting bottom of the table and without a win from their opening seven league games. Their only win this season has come in the FA Cup, beating Step 5 side Wombwell Town 3-1 in the first-qualifying round.

Player Information

Michael Pearson & JJ O’Donnell are both serving the final matches of their suspensions after red cards against Bradford Park Avenue & Kendal Town respectively.

Craig Baxter was unavailable against Brighouse Town after picking up an injury in training.

Richard Coulson remains on the sideline with a long-term knee injury, whilst JJ Chrisp is yet to make an appearance in the 25/26 season after sustaining an injury in pre-season.
