REPORT | Dunston UTS 1 North Ferriby 2

Dunston suffered a first league defeat of the season after squandering a 1-0 half-time lead against North Ferriby.

David Robinson headed home for his second goal of the season to give Dunston the advantage three minutes before half-time. Second half substitute for The Villagers, Mason Johnson, then struck two goals inside five minutes midway through the second half as the visitors left with all three points.

Jon McDonald was forced into making changes to his side as both Chris McDonald and Jude Swailes missed out through injury. JJ Chrisp slotted in at left back with Scott Lowery coming into the centre of defence.

Despite controlling much of the possession, Dunston found themselves struggling to break down the Ferriby backline in the early stages. The first shot on goal came on 20 minutes when Scott Lowery drove forwards and unleashed a long range effort well off target.

On the half-hour mark, The Villagers had their first major sighting on goal following a James Cadman free kick. The ball fell to Jack Walters who rattled the post from eight yards out.

On 42 minutes, Dunston made their possession count as Dale Pearson whipped in a cross from the left which was met by David Robinson who bulleted his header past Bottomley to give Dunston the lead.

Dunston went in search of what would have been a crucial second goal as the first half drew to a close. Harvey Neary created some space for himself inside the area before dragging a shot wide across the face of goal. Michael Pearson also came close as he drilled a powerful effort towards goal, but it was tipped over the bar by Bottomley.

As the second forty-five got underway, Dunston continued to cause problems for the visitors as Bottomley was called into action again to deny Lowery from steering home a header from a corner. Dale Pearson also came close but was unable to trouble the North Ferriby 'keeper.

With 62 minutes played, North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder introduced Mason Johnson to the game who made a massive impact as he turned the game on its head. Six minutes after entering the game, Johnson capitalised on a slip at the back and guided a deflected effort past Lowson into the bottom corner.

On 73 minutes, Johnson was at it again as he took advantage of more sloppy play and struck the ball on the volley off the post and in.

Dunston didn't lose their fight and went in search of the equaliser. Neary came close on 81 minutes when he curled a left-footed effort wide of the post. Tuesday's Man of the Match Dan Turner was introduced to the game and he nearly linked up with another substitute, Josh Gilchrist, when the latter forced Bottomley into a low save.

That was to be Dunston's last chance as The Villagers came away with maximum points, leaving Dunston in 8th place in the table. Next up for Dunston is an away trip to Brighouse Town on Wednesday evening.
