PREVIEW | Sheffield FC (A)
PREVIEW | Pontefract Collieries (A)
Dunston travel to Sheffield FC looking to gain a vital three points after two defeats in a row.
FORM
Following three successive wins on the bounce against Ossett United, Cleethorpes Town and Shildon, Dunston were beaten on their last two outings 2-0 by Long Eaton United at home, and then 2-1 in Pontefract on Tuesday night, in a highly contentious game where Dunston found themselves on the wrong side of a number of refereeing decisions.
Our hosts tomorrow Sheffield currently sit joint-bottom of the form charts with just two points in the last six games, and so will be raring to go to try and get back on track. A defeat at home to Grimsby Borough in the week has compounded Sheffield's poor recent run, with the world's oldest football club having not picked up a win since beating Long Eaton United on boxing day. A win for the hosts tomorrow is a must if they want to stretch away from the relegation zone, which they currently sit seven points clear of.
The sides have already met once this season, with Dunston running out 2-0 winners at the UTS Stadium in October thanks to a Carl Finnigan brace as the striker continued his fine form since joining the club.
THOUGHTS OF THE MANAGEMENT
Assistant Manager Jon McDonald gave his thoughts after the game on Tuesday:
"We have obviously been disappointed with the way the last two results have gone - of course we are. But there is still a lot of games left, we are still in the playoff positions and it is in our hands.
"We have to be better than how we performed on the last two games, but we have real character in the dressing room and I am confident that come the end of the season we will still be right up there."
