PREVIEW | Cleethorpes Town (A)

PREVIEW | Ossett United (A)

Dunston make the journey to the East coast tomorrow as 5th meet 6th in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division. Cleethorpes Town are the hosts, in what is a massive game for both sides in the hunt for the playoffs.

Dunston have only played twice so far in January following a number of postponements, and so are raring to go in what proves to be a tricky test. They come into the game off the back of a 2-0 victory away at Ossett two weeks ago, and know that a victory in Cleethorpes would see Dunston rise into the playoff positions.

Our hosts tomorrow Cleethorpes are following a similar pattern to that of last year. It has been a steady season for the hosts, who reached the end of season playoffs last year. Their last outing was a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Long Eaton United, and so there is no doubt that Cleethorpes will be wanting to respond from that defeat. Declan Howe appears to be a real threat for the hosts as he has 15 goals to his name already in all competitions.

The sides have already met once this season just over a month and a half ago, and it was the game of the season so far at the UTS Stadium. 2-1 down in injury time, the game seemed up when Cleethorpes were awarded a penalty on the counter attack. A Dan Staples penalty save in injury time, with the help of the Dunston ultras behind the goal, was followed by a leaping header from Sadó Djaló on the break to tie proceedings up. And there was still time for a winner, as just one minute later, a scramble in the box lead to Michael Pearson bundling the ball over the line to send the UTS Stadium into pandemonium and give Dunston a massive three points.

Ahead of a busy and congested February which will see 7 games within 21 days, tomorrow is a great chance build on victory at Ossett last time out.
