Dunston FC vs Worksop Town match report

Chris Swailes side continue to impress overcoming fellow Northern Premier League side Worksop Town in a 5 goal thriller.

Despite being without the services of Terry Galbraith, Dunston’s defence looked solid, certainly for the opening stages of the the game.

The hosts dominated the first phase of the game and eventually opened the scoring on 20 minutes. Sadó Djaló converting from close range as Jack Elliott had skipped beyond his marker in an move that had started from the back, Liam Connell picking out Ursene Mouanda who with a defence splitting pass sent Elliott away, his pace too much for the Worksop defender.

Craig Scott’s penetrating passes down the left were a constant source of danger for the visitors as they struggled to cope with Jack Elliotts pace.

Liam Thear should’ve extended his sides lead just before the stroke of half time, however his effort from inside the six yard box just wide of the near post.

Dunston took a 1 goal lead going into the break, Town captain Jake Picton had cannoned a close range effort off the underneath of the crossbar, that effort been their only major threat on Connell goal in the first 45.

Worksop levelled shortly after the re-start; Ben Tomlinson was on hand to poke in from close range from a corner, Connell having fumbled the ball as the Dunston defence reacted second to the threat.

Dan Capewell gave the home side the lead 8 minutes later, the defender firing through a host of bodies as Worksop struggled to clear their lines from a Craig Baxter free-kick

Worksop had certainly come into the game more in the second half and levelled the game, again from a corner, this time Jack Broadhead powering his header beyond Connell.

With 5 minutes remaining Ursene Mouanda, who had been a constant hive of energy in the middle of the park, secured the win. Played in by Djaló, he raced away having beaten his marker to calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner beyond Worksop keeper Malkowski.

Man of the match

Craig Scott.

An outstanding performance from the club captain, his penetrating passing causes constant problems down the left and he was assured at the back.
