Newcastle Benfield vs Dunston UTS FC - Match Preview
Dunston UTS FC make the short journey over the River Tyne, as they face Newcastle Benfield in the preliminary round of The Emirates FA Cup.
The Lions have had a mixed start to their season; winning their opening two games of The Northern League season. They have since gone on the lose their previous two league games.
Sandwiched in between that, they overcame Ashington in a seven goal thriller away from home. Trailing 1-2 and with less than ten minutes to play, they eventually won 4-3 as the hosts were reduced to 10 men.
Although they have been free scoring, they are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
Dunston are looking to bounce back from a mid-week defeat at home to Shildon and get their first win of the season, having drawn their season opener away to Brighouse.
Swaz may be without the services of Terry Galbraith, who is recovering from an ankle injury, whilst Michael Hall serves the final game of his 3 match suspension.
Dunston have added Eddie Thomas and Matty Pattison, both of whom will be available for selection.
Benfield have a few familiar faces in their ranks, Richie Slaughter and Aiden Haley both having had spells at The UTS Stadium.
The two sides last met at in a pre-season friendly last season. Benfield came out on top in a game which saw Dunston midfielder Michael Pearson suffer a serious injury, which had kept himout of the game until the start of this season.
