Dunston travel to Dean Street on Tuesday night, for a 7:30 pm kick-off, in what is arguably the tie of the round, to face fellow Pitching In Northern Premier League East side Shildon AFC, for a Durham Challenge Cup second preliminary round fixture.
Both sides go into the game in a rich vein of form. Shildon are currently on a 4 game winning streak in league and cup, whilst Chris Swailes’ side will be looking to make it 7 wins from 7.
The two teams have met already in the league this season. Shildon coming out on the right end of a 2-0 score line at The UTS Stadium back in September; thanks to goals from Michael Sweet and Billy Greulich-Smith.
Dunston UTS FC are yet to lift the Durham Challenge Cup but have reached the final of 3 occasions, the last of which was in the 2017/18 season losing 2-4 to Consett.
Shildon have lifted the trophy on 5 occasions, their last final win coming as recently as the 2018/19 season.
Chris Swailes, who’ll be celebrating his 51st birthday, will have a strong squad to choose from, with no reported injuries or suspensions.
