Connell

Club news - the popular goalkeeper announces his departure.

Liam Connell has announced that he has left the club.

“Well time has come to leave Dunston. Not 100% sure what happens next so I suppose this is semi-retirement”.

“Dunston will always be close to my heart and I would like to thank everyone involved with the club. Swaz, Jon, Ian and Lewis, all the fans, Kel and media team, Mal and all the committee but especially all the lads”.

“I’ve left Dunston with a canny record of 126 clean sheets and God knows how many games”.

“Good luck to Dunston and no doubt I’ll be along at some point to watch”.

Liam was Chris Swailes first signing of the 2020/21 season, having re-joined Dunston UTS for his second spell at the club. The highly regarded keeper spent four years at South Shields, a time in which The Mariners made impressive progress through the leagues he added another FA Vase winners medal to his personal collection, having played at Wembley for Dunston in their famous 2012 FA Vase Final win at Wembley.

Liam has been a superb servant to the club and we wish him all the very best in whatever he decides to do in the future.
