Hessy hits a ton for Dunston FC

Scott Heslop achieved a personal landmark in his Dunston FC career as the diminutive forward reached 100 games for the Club against Workington AFC on Boxing Day.

Scott has rapidly become a firm favourite at the UTS Stadium. With his commitment and first class attitude, his performances have been a major contributory factor in Dunston FC’s  achievements over the past few seasons.

On attaining this personal milestone Scott commented “I’m absolutely over the Moon to have played 100 games for Dunston”.  Adding “I’m a local lad and to play for Dunston, who have been a big team in the Northern League for many years, and to now play in the BetVictor League, it is an absolute honour.

He continued “I started off at Chester-le-Street Town and after a few good seasons there, I came to Dunston. I’ve been here for four or so years now and I can’t see myself playing anywhere else. I hope I’m with Dunston for the rest of my career”.

Scott made his debut against Team Northumbria on 31st March 2014 and then spent two seasons racking up the goals in The Northern League with Chester Le Street before re-signing for Dunston.

Brought to the club by FA Vase winning manager Billy Irwin, who said of Scott “I signed Scott in the 2016/17 season from Chester-le-Street Town, he did pre-season with us the year before but we thought he would benefit more by staying with them for another season”. Adding, “He always gives 100% for the team and he’s improving each week in the BetVictor League”.

Dunston FC’s long standing Chairman Malcolm James gave his thoughts “Scott is now regarded as one of the best forwards in local non-league football and his contribution to Dunston UTS Football Club is appreciated by everyone within the club and long may it continue”.
