Newcastle Blue Star vs Dunston UTS FC- Pre-season Friendly

Dunston made the short trip over The River Tyne to face Newcastle Blue Star in their final game of pre-season. The Northern Alliance outfit, who are much fancied and well set for promotion to The Northern League, ran out 2-1 winners in front of a crowd of 270.

Newcastle Blue Star keeper Alex Curran was at hand to deny Dunston from taking an early lead, pulling off a fantastic stop to prevent a Scott Heslop effort.

Terry Galbraith’s afternoon was brought to an end with only 23 minutes on the clock; the defender forced to leave the pitch following a late tackle.

In a high octane, end to end encounter, Blue Star took the lead on 36 minutes, Joe Walker with a great turn to power his effort into the roof of the Dunston net.

Blue Star were upping the pressure and Dunston had substitute Dan Capewell, on in place of the injured Galbraith, to thank moments later as the defender cleared a goal-bound effort off the line.

Before the stroke of half-time, the Northern Alliance outfit extended their lead, their trialist, with an audacious effort, chipping Liam Connell from 25 yards.

With Dunston trailing at half time, Swaz elected to make changes, Mecheck Kanda replacing Jake Stafford and Trialist replacing Liam Thear up-front.

Dunston were to pull one back with 4 minutes of the second half remaining, Blue Star keeper Alex Curran doing enough to parry the Dunston Trialist’s first shot, only for the same player to then quickly follow up and slot the ball home.

The home side done enough to see the game out as with final score 2-1 to Blue Star.
