We would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone in attendance at the UTS Stadium this evening for our fifth and final home Pre-Season Friendly in what has already been a bit of a topsey-turvey run-up to the new season! Due to several minor injuries and the need to self-isolate for quite a few of the Dunston playing squad, there has been a need to field under-strength sides in the previous four games. A much improved performance on Wednesday evening against a youthful Middlesbrough FC side saw us achieve a 2-1 victory after a good contest. Let’s hope that things continue to improve in time for our NPL opener when we travel to Brighouse Town on Saturday 14th August.

 Our opponents this evening are HARTLEPOOL UNITED FC who have been kind enough to come to the UTS Stadium for their final Pre-Season game before they open their eagerly anticipated EFL League Two campaign at home to Crawley Town on Saturday 7th August.

 It’s only a matter of weeks since they won a fantastic National League Play-Off Final in Bristol to secure promotion back to their rightful place in the Football League. Despite some rather disappointing results in their previous three Friendlies against local Clubs, Manager Dave Challinor brings a very strong squad to Dunston this evening with the aim of banging in plenty of goals to lift the spirits of the Hartlepool United supporters.

We also extend a warm welcome to our Match Officials this evening, Referee Paul Cooper and his Assistant Referees Stephen Beresford and Karl Barron. We are most grateful to them for taking the game.
