Dunston FC welcome Pontefract Collieries to The UTS Stadium this Saturday in The BetVictor Northern Premier North West Division.

With most supporters enjoying the Festive break, no doubt spent gorging upon the bountiful delectations of selection boxes and Turkey left-over based culinary pleasures, spare a thought for Dunston’s players who have had to face a relentless run of fixtures during the holiday period,

Chris Swailes’ side have recently faced the two top sides in The BetVictor Northern Premier N/West Division and will be aiming to end 2019 on a high with a win against a strong Pontefract Collieries side, who have recorded an impressive five league wins on their travels so far this season.

Saturdays game will no do be a further tough challenge as the West Yorkshire based outfit currently occupy 7th place and sit just below the play-off zone, having overcome West Yorkshire rivals Ossett United in a 2-0 away victory o. Boxing Day.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides this season; Dunston FC having previously faced Pontefract Collieries in The preliminary round of The Emirates FA Cup last season,  a game in which Dunston came out on top during their remarkable FA Cup run in an enthralling 4-2 victory over the then current Northern Counties League title holders and a side who eventually finished as runners-up to Morpeth Town in The NPL Division One East last season.

Scott Heslop marked his 100th appearance for Dunston FC with a goal, despite Swaz’s side  coming out on the wrong end of a 1-4 defeat away to table toppers Workington AFC, the result bringing an end to Dunston’s good run of form.
