Dunston FC face a stern test on Tuesday night as they play host to South Shields FC in the second round of The Integro League Cup.
In a game daubed by The Dunston UTS FC Supporters Club as a local derby, which is understandable given the distances they’ve had to travel this season, Dunston will be hoping for a bumper crowd for this Tyne & Wear clash.
The Mariners are currently sitting top of The BetVictor Northern Premier Division, with games in hand on the sides below them and are on a four gaming winning streak in League and Cup.
Chris Swailes’ side overcame Scarborough Athletic in the last round of the competition, with forward Mark Fitzpatrick bagging a hatrick in a 5-1 victory away from home
Graham Fenton and Lee Picton’s side progressed through to the second round following a comfortable 4-0 away win at Tadcaster Albion, who coincidently were the visitors to The UTS Stadium Saturday gone, with Dunston impressing in a hard fought 1-0 victory courtesy of a sublime Jack Elliott goal.
Dan Halliday and Cedwyn Scott should both be available whilst Liam Marrs has an ankle injury. Karl Dryden suffered a tear to his hamstring against Tadcaster Albion which could see him out of action for 2-3 weeks Jack Elliott has a knee sprain but should hopefully be fit by end of this week.
Luke Page completes his suspension and his return will no doubt cause a selection headache in midfield given the performances of Michael Pearson, Jake Stafford and Ursene Mouanda on Saturday. The later could be in line to face his former side and has impressed since his arrival at the club.
